June

June…. June was a very busy month for us. We celebrated our 3^rd anniversary. YAY!  We went to the Boyd Family Campout which was held in the Redwood forest this year at Patrick’s Point. It was a very long drive to get there and back but the time we spent there was great. We love being able to catch up with family and for us being able to see everyone one last time before our move. (warning... lots of pictures)

We went hiked to Patrick’s Point and an outcropping of rocks. Unfortunately I forgot my camera but my sister in law Rebecca took plenty of photos.  We also went on a small hike in Lady Bird Johnson Grove (for anyone who has kids this is a great hike for them).

We also went to Agate beach where the water was very chilly and there were lots of cool finds on the beach.

We went on a longer hike (7 ish miles) the next day through the area where Jurassic Park was filmed and it was awesome.

At the end we saw a herd of elk grazing next to the beach not too far from where we had parked the cars. It was awesome to be able to get that close to them.  The biggest in the group was an 8x8 and there were quite a few in the 6x6 and 7x7s. 

We also had an interesting run in with a skunk and a raccoon while cleaning up dinner one night. Luckily no one got sprayed but we came close a couple of times and so did our tent and the raccoon.

We then were able to attend the wedding of one of Jonathan’s best friends the day we got back and after that headed to Jackson Hole for a 10s Rugby Tournament where Jonathan played most likely his last rugby game for the next four years. :(  He had a great time and I came home with a sunburn even after applying a lot of sunscreen the entire day. (the life a a fair skinned person)

The next weekish we spent with family in Meridian. We had a great time with them. One of the evenings we were able to go see Jonathan’s brother Chris and his family and their new home. Then we headed back to Pocatello and packed up our place in a couple days and then set out on our journey across the country.  In the 2 weeks leading up to our 34 hour drive across the country we had already spent at the minimum 48 hours in the car traveling and such. I can tell you that it will be awhile before either of us will want to make a long car drive. Advice to anyone who is going to make a long drive, books on tape are the best I highly recommend them.

Our trip took us 5 days and we traveled through 10 states. We could have made it in 4 but decided to stop early on the 4th and celebrate.

We spent the 4th of July in Knoxville, TN. Their firework show was kinda disappointing the one in Pocatello is much better.

We finally reached our destination and we so excited to finally be here. We love our new apartment.

Beginning of summer

The beginning of our summer hasn't been to eventful but in the next couple weeks it is going to be crazy busy. We have the Boyd Family Reunion in California, a wedding of a close friend, a trip to Boise to see my family and a few other things thrown in there. Then at the end of the next 2-ish weeks we will be packing up our cars and headed across the country. We are excited for our last couple weeks in Idaho  :) I can't believe that is is less than a month before we move. We have been talking about this "idea" for the last year and a half and it is crazy to think that it is here.

We spent Memorial day with some friends at Willard Bay in Utah. We enjoyed the sun and the company.

Big Changes

We have had lots of questions about if and where we are going? If Jonathan has been accepted into medical school? So to answer every ones questions.....

Yes!! Jonathan has been accepted to medical school :) We are very EXCITED!!

 He has chosen to attend a school in North Carolina called Campbell University. It is located in a small town right in the center of North Carolina. We are very excited to start a new adventure.

We have found a townhouse to rent. :) (such a relief to finally find a place to live) I am very excited since it is above ground (we have lived in basement apartments our entire marriage). I know this sounds like a silly thing but when you feel like a gopher and you only see out little basement windows, you would be happy too. We are projecting to leave in June or July and have plans to visit family and friends before we go. Only a few more months eek!!

I can't believe that a year ago we were starting the med school process with the MCAT test and beginning applications. We feel so blessed to have the opportunity to go to med school. I am very proud of Jonathan and all that he has accomplished this past year. Thank you for all of your support and encouragement over the last year. Loves!

North Carolina, Here We Come!!!

Fun in the Sun

My parents invited Jonathan and I to join my family this year to go to Mexico with them.  We set the dates and bought the plan tickets for the week before Thanksgiving. Let me tell you the it felt like forever for us to finally leave. We were all getting packed and ready to leave on our trip. When my mom's sister unexpectedly passed away. We had to change my mom's flight plans and she would leave the day after us from SLC instead of Boise. But it all worked out and we all made it safe.  We spent the week in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was beautiful, warm and wonderful. I would go back in a heart beat. My two younger sisters ,Kara and Korrin, had never flown so that was an experience in itself.

 Our resort was beautiful. It had 3 different pools and was located next to the ocean with a private beach. Can you say paradise :) We ate delicious food and had plenty virgin pina coladas, margaritas, and strawberry daiquiris.

We went snorkeling and saw dolphins and sea turtles on the way out. We also went zip lining and had a great time. Kamill and my dad went parasailing. The boys did some fishing and saw some wild crocodiles. It was an awesome vacation to spend with my family. Here is a ton of photos from our vacation :)

Fall so far

Jonathan and I have been anxiously waiting to hear from the schools that he filled out secondary applications for. To our excitement Jonathan has been offered 7 interviews so far!! YAY!!! They are all over the states but mostly in the midwest and the east coast. We are so happy that he has gotten interviews, his dreams of becoming a doctor are getting closer and closer.

We also got to attend our niece Violet's blessing in Nampa. It was great to see Jonathan's family and catch up with all of them. Jonathan, the day before the blessing went to the City of Rocks with his brother Shaun and his family. They had a great time climbing  and exploring the rocks. Our niece Hailey loves her Uncle Jonathan and doesn't like to be separated from him for very long. She is like velcro when he is around. (it's so cute). Every time he went on a climb without her, she kept asking where he went.

As most of you know Jonathan loves to act and sing. He wanted to do one last show (in case he gets into med school). He auditioned for the show White Christmas and was duel cast as the principal Phil. He is excited to play this part. They needed people to be in the ensemble and Jonathan kept pestering me to join because they needed people who could dance. He also told me I wouldn't have to sing. (I have a fear of singing in front of people). SoI jumped out of the box and agreed to join the show. Jonathan and I will be performing in White Christmas throughout December. He splits the days with the other Phil so if you would like to come watch him (yes I said him) contact me and I'll let you know what days to come.

It has started...

Here is an update on Jonathan's med school journey! :)  Jonathan put in applications to both M.D. and D.O. programs. For the last 2 weeks we have been receiving secondaries and holy cow  they are a ton of work. Almost every school has sent us a secondary and I wish they only sent you one if they were seriously thinking about him as a student ( I feel like they just want money :(  ).  We have made a list on our white board and have been working through the applications. I'll have to post a picture later.  Fingers crossed we will start to hear back from schools that are interested in an interview.   We will try to keep everyone updated we hear back from different schools.
